Academic probation is the most common term colleges and universities use to indicate that a student is not making the academic progress the institution requiresfor graduation. Academic probation often means that a student's grades and/or overall GPA are not high enough to continue in school if they do not improve.
NOUN has now restricted all current course semester registrations for any student who finds his/herself on academic probation for a long period. Any student who had find him/herself in this condition/situation, is expected to only register their carry-over courses and remaining elective courses from his/her previous semesters.
Note: these carryovers and the electives you had registered must be passed with absolutely GOOD grades (either A & B grades. C, D & E grades are not helpful).
These Good grades will help to boost your CPGA and lift you from PROBATION to the nearest academic grade.
The first two consecutive semesters that your grades fall below 2.0, you'd be on an Academic Warning. The next time it happens, you'd be on Academic Probation.
If you find yourself on academic probation, you're not alone. About 20% of students who attend a four/five-year course will be on academic probation at some point.

Carryover results from three scenarios;
(1) you submitted TMA and/or took examination but failed.
(2) you registered the courses but couldn't take their TMA and/or Exam.
(3) you took part in all assessments but your results went to Germany (missing).
NT = No TMA
NE= No Exams
I = Missing record(s) (This has no negative effect on your CGPA)
The only one that SHALL have negative effect on your CGPA is the first option Taking both exams and TMA yet fail.
There's no 1st class, 2nd class etc.
3.0 - PASS
3.1 - PASS
4.0 - PASS
4.8 - PASS
5.0 - PASS
What your employer might require is your CGPA not class of degree.

1. Perform a semester registration on the registration portal nouonline.net. This will enable you make payments, register FOR EXAMS and pay for your courses materials as required.
2. Perform another registration or use your previous semester login details to access the elearn portal at elearn.nouedu2.net. This will enable you participate in Tutor Marked Assignments, online faciliations, etc.
3. Get as much past questions as possible and study towards your exams. While you may study off point with past questions sometimes, it'd still channel your mind towards the right directions in your course that you may never have a carryover eventually.
4. Use the e-ticketing platform, the faciliation channel on telegram and other non-official NOUN platforms to learn about new happenings in NOUN.
5. Where you cannot solve your intellectual problems alone, seek for help, in university you're on your own, nobody is competing with you. If you fail or murder your GPA while trying to do it all alone, it's your burden none else's. Do some and hand some over.
6. If you're not comfortable taking an exam, kindly ignore the TMA to avoid a devasting damage to your GPA. Don't take TMA and leave exams, and vice versa.
7. Get the staff contacts from your study centre, they usually won't say no. And when you talk to them, remember that most of them are graduates and could ruin your hustle.

On 28th June, 2022 a memo was passed on non-tolerance of both correction of name and date of birth after matriculation number has been issued.
However, Kindly follow due processes. If either your name was misspelled or birthdate wrongly selected, work on it before your final semester in school to ensure it's corrected before you graduate: In some cases newspaper publication may not be required, so ask your Faculty Desk Officer for possibilities.

If you're relocating temporarily during the period of examination:
(A). No Need To Change Study Centre IF you're on short term relocation. NOUN called these the Visiting Students: you're are allowed to sit for exams upon provision of evidences.
1. Study Centres are allowed to accept visiting students during the entire examination.
(i) Such students MUST show evidence that they have paid and registered for the examinations they intend to sit for and that they are on official assignments outside their stations.
(ii) Signals are required for all military and paramilitary personnel, asking to take examination as visiting students.
(iii) Centre Directors are to properly document this and forward a copy to the Director, DEA and also to the marking venue.
2. In implementing number 1 above, there should be no abuses. In order to control abuses, mega Study Centres (5,000 students and above) are allowed a maximum of 50 additions for POP and e-Exams; those below that number are allowed not more than 15 additions.
Community Study Centres are not allowed to add any candidate as visiting student without the prior approval of the Director, DEA. However, Community Study Centres which could prove that there is an ongoing communal crisis necessitating some candidates to take examination at their Centres may be considered.
3. Any student who intend to sit for an examination at another Study Centre MUST BE cleared by their original Study Centres.
The Examination Transfer Form duly completed and endorsed, can serve as evidence that the student is qualified to sit for the examination.
However, if you're changing your location permanently before examination period? Make 3 copies of the following and walk into your current study centre for the application form:
1) Previous Courses registration slip with clearance stamp
2) Your E-wallet statement
When successfully, you’d be given an NOUN envelope containing your transfer documents which you’d take to your new study centre for other proceedings.

Currently NO!
GST courses mandatory but not part of CGPA calculation.
The Senate at its 83rd Regular Meeting held on Tuesday, 7th July, 2015 considered and approved the policy on GST Courses offered in the University, whereby scores obtained in GST courses were not computed as part of the students’ CGPA. However, a pass in these courses should be a pre-condition for a student’s graduation.
